Pre-installation treatment
Check the surface quality of the seal. There should be no defects such as flashes, burrs, cracks, cut edges, pores, and looseness. The geometric dimensions and precision of the seal must meet the standard requirements. The wear-resistant ring is mainly made of filled polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material, which has corrosion resistance and a large thermal expansion coefficient. Therefore, before installation, soak it in 100℃ oil for 20 minutes to soften it gradually, and then use the tooling to install it into the groove of the piston.
Note: Due to the shrinkage characteristics of polytetrafluoroethylene after long-term storage, it is normal for the size to be reduced. It can be avoided by soaking it before installation, or it can be properly stretched and installed without affecting the use.
Seal installation
(1) Please prepare the fitting and rod tool as shown in the picture above. Before installation, please clean the inner surface of the liquid pressure oil tank and the surface of the installation groove.
(2) Please insert the rubber ring into the installation tank. At this time, please avoid excessive stretching and bending of the rubber sealing circle, as shown in the figure below.

Insert the bushing into the piston, then use the push rod tool to press the slide ring in quickly.
Piston rod seal installation
(1) First, place the O-ring into the groove.
(2) Bend the stepped seal into a waist shape, as shown in the figure below
(3) Place the bent sealing ring into the groove and push it toward the O-ring in the direction of the arrow.
(5) After inserting it into the groove, it is best to flatten the seal with your fingers so that it forms a circle close to the groove.
(6) Finally, use a mandrel with a length of about 30 mm and a chamfer angle of 10° to 15° to level the seal. To avoid damage to the seal, the leveling mandrel should be made of a polymer material with good sliding properties and surface quality (such as nylon). When using a piston rod with a longer guide column, there is also a leveling function

Installation tips: When installing combined seals such as Step seals and Gly rings, it is essential to note that after the PTFE slide ring and rubber seal ring are installed in the integral groove, the PTFE slide ring must be corrected.
Elastomer seal installation
3.1.1 Installation of a U-shaped seal ring in the integral groove of the piston
(1) Prepare a pivot with a handle, the diameter of which should be the same as the diameter of the piston rod.
(2) To make installing the seal ring on the piston rod easy, please apply lubricating oil.
(3) Press the seal ring with your thumb and insert it into the pivot loading hole.
(4) Turn the handle while pressing down, as shown in the figure.

Installation method of nitrile rubber U-shaped seal ring in the integral groove: Insert one side of the seal ring into the groove, pull the other side of the seal ring, and it can be easily inserted into the groove, as shown in the figure

(1) When using a retaining ring, first install the retaining ring into the assembly groove, as shown in the figure.
(2) Please prepare a special plunger and push rod, the size of which corresponds to the diameter of the seal ring. To not damage the seal ring, the material must be made of soft resin, and the upper part of the plunger must be made into a smooth shape that is easy to slide into the seal. Install the seal ring by hand, as shown in the figure.
(3) If you use the special push rod to press the upper end of the seal ring in, you will hear a "click," and the seal ring will be easily installed in the assembly groove.
Installation method of polyurethane U-shaped sealing ring
Installation method of nitrile rubber U-shaped sealing ring in the integral groove:
(1) Use your fingers to shape the sealing ring into a heart shape carefully. Be careful not to scratch the sealing ring, and be quick to prevent permanent deformation of the sealing ring, as shown in the figure
(2) The seal ring installed in the assembly groove may be bent. Use your fingers to correct it.
4. Installation method of all piston seals into the split groove
U-shaped seal
The U-shaped seal from the root can be easily installed without special tools. When installing the U-shaped seal from the lip, prevent the top of the assembly groove from easily scratching the seal's lip.
Use a push rod and turntable to install the U-ring
Combined seal ring installation method: If it is a combined seal ring such as a Step seal or Gley ring, the O-ring and the slide ring must be combined before being installed simultaneously. The above is the installation method for the hydraulic cylinder piston and piston rod seal ring. We can refer to the above method during installation to ensure that the seal ring will not cause premature leakage or reduced sealing performance due to installation problems.
